What NAU students and faculty are saying

Hear from active people in the NAU community who've worked with Cadence Performance.

As an avid cyclist, I’ve seen my share of overuse injuries, imbalances, and post-crash recoveries. Since day one (I'm a long time client), Eric has taken the time to understand the demands of cycling and how it affects the body. He didn’t just throw generic exercises at me. He built a personalized plan that actually addressed the root(s) of the issue(s) and helped me get back on the bike stronger and more stable than before. Eric combines a vast knowledge of biomechanics with the ability to explain things clearly. He understands athletes and will push you just enough to make progress without overdoing it. If you’re an athlete in Northern Arizona dealing with injury, burnout, or just looking to improve performance through better movement - this is the place to go.

I can’t recommend Eric enough for physical therapy! He really knows his stuff and took the time to walk me through what was going on and how the exercises would help. He was super patient and understanding, which made a tough situation feel a lot more manageable. I actually felt better after the very first session and kept seeing improvements pretty quickly after that. He’s great to work with!
Erin Stanford
I have been a patient of Eric since 2020. Whether I’m seeing Eric for injury or to maintain longevity as an athlete, I always feel heard and respected. Eric views physical therapy from a holistic perspective, and analyzes how different movements within the body can be connected. He treats the “whole” not just what’s hurting. After visiting Eric, I receive a follow-up email that contains a summary of our visit and the practiced exercises to continue. Additionally, the online portal is extremely efficient when needing to schedule, and it’s nice to know that when I go to my appointment I get the full hour, and that Eric isn’t needing to rush between multiple patients at the same time. 100% recommend Cadence Performance for injury treatment and prevention!!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're part of the NAU community and considering physical therapy, here are answers to common questions about our approach and location.

How close are you to NAU campus?

We're located in midtown Flagstaff near Safeway on Cedar Avenue, about a 10-minute drive from campus. The address is 3859 N Paradise Rd, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. We schedule appointments during weekday daytime hours and can work with your class and work schedule.

Do you work with college students?

Yes. We work with NAU students who are dealing with sports injuries, overuse issues from outdoor recreation, and post-operative rehab. We understand the demands of balancing recovery with academics and an active lifestyle, and we build plans that support both.

Do you take insurance or student health plans?

We are a direct-pay, cash-based clinic and do not bill insurance or student health plans directly. Many students and faculty submit receipts for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We accept cash, credit, debit, HSA, and FSA.

What if I'm not a student athlete but still active?

Most of the people we work with aren't varsity athletes. We help active students, faculty, and staff who trail run, mountain bike, ski, climb, hike, or lift and want to stay active without recurring pain or injury holding them back.

How long does treatment take?

It depends on your injury, activity level, and goals. Many people notice improvements within the first few sessions. We work with you to build a progression that fits your schedule and supports long-term resilience.
